Method
- Cook macaroni according to package directions. Drain well.
- In a large saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in flour until smooth.
- Gradually whisk in milk until smooth. Bring to a simmer, stirring constantly.
- Reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Stir in salt and pepper.
- Remove from heat and stir in cheese until melted and smooth.
- Add macaroni to cheese sauce and stir to combine.
- Serve immediately.
Notes
For an extra creamy sauce, use whole milk and freshly grated cheese.
