Ingredients
  

Dry ingredients
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
Wet ingredients
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup fresh orange juice
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
Other
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch pan.
  2. Cream butter and sugar until light. Add eggs one at a time, then mix in orange juice, zest, and vanilla.
  3. Whisk flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add to wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
  4. Pour batter into pan and smooth top. Bake for 25-30 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  5. Cool in pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire rack. Serve as is or dust with powdered sugar.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a splash of orange liqueur to the batter.
